Kristen Banks, Co-owner

I started my massage therapy training at Medicine Hat College, graduating from the 2200 hours Diploma program in June 2004. During this time I also received a certificate in Aromatherapy & the Therapeutic Uses of Essential Oils under Blaine Andrusek Phytotherapeutics, which later developed into a lifelong passion of essential oils and the creation of my own aromatherapy business, B2Pur.

After graduation I completed a variety of other trainings not really finding my passion until I discovered Bowen Therapy. I started my training and 14 months later I received my Diploma in April 2012, completed all of the Bowen Specialization trainings and have since trained in Applied Myoskeletal Therapy, Bowen Lymphatics and the Vagus Nerve. Currently I am now the only medically trained Bowen Therapist in SE Alberta.

In February of 2022 I trained in and purchased a device called a Physiokey, which uses specially designed frequency patterns to create a change in the tissues of the body. It includes a diagnostic setting to allow the device to assess the area and stimulate self-regulation through biofeedback-controlled impulses. The effect on the nervous system and thus on the body’s own healing can be a treatment options for acute and chronic pain as well as improvement and recovery.

The Physiokey is applied directly onto the skin without the need for conductive gels or lotions, and the sensation settings can be completely turned off when working on children to prevent any aversion to receiving therapy sessions.

Physiokey is also a wonderful tool to help address the complexities of treating deeply rooted pain and fascial restrictions, and especially a trauma, whether they are physical or emotional in nature. Treatment includes gently stimulating the Vagus nerve and abdomen to return the body to a relaxed state.

Most recently Kristen flew to Bowen Island, BC to attend the PASC training seminars with renowned Bowen TMJ Specialist Ron Phelan. Ron trained under orthodontist Dr. Brenden Stack for several years while honing his understanding and treatment skills for the TMJ joint before finally creating the courses known today as PASC. These courses address the position of the condyle of the mandible (the piece of the lower jaw that fits into the joint) and how it moves with the disc in the joint itself.
